Ned Purdom

 

I am a Californian who can trace his roots back to the Spanish Colonial period on one branch and the Gold Rush on another.

 

I spent twenty years writing for Silicon Valley companies and then another fifteen working with high school students on their writing as an English and journalism teacher. I continue volunteer tutoring today.

 

One of the ongoing conversations with my students is about where stories originate and how they may or may not reflect the writer. Virga is my first crack at taking a few factual fragments and stitching together a cogent narrative that is at once plausible and reflective. You can judge if I have hit that mark, come close or missed wildly.

 

As proud as I am of my California heritage, I recognize that my lineage - my mythology – has dominated how we perceive this place. Virga is one tiny, and privileged slice.
